Review of the RG Wing Gundam EW
The RG Wing Gundam EW is a scaled-down version of the MG Wing Gundam Ver. Ka, it even has the signature long legs of the Ver. Ka line of Master Grade Gundam. This Gunpla is a redesign of the popular Gundam from the 90’s anime shows Wing Gundam that was piloted by Heero Yui.

Build Experience
The build starts off by building the inner frame. Like most RGs, there are some parts that are pre-colored in the runners. For RG kits, you build an inner frame first and build a separate front and back armor on top of the frame. This is to make painting easier as well as make it look more detailed.
The build was straightforward with no major problems. There are some tight spots but nothing that can’t be easily fixed with a little bit of hard work. The build takes about 5 hours to complete, which is quick for an RG kit.
Out-Of-The-Box Appearance
The RG Wing Gundam EW is a good out-of-the-box looking Gundam model kit. I really like its appearance; it’s quite different from the other Gundam out there. And even though it looks different, it doesn’t compromise on playability at all. It was easy to put together and fun to paint. Overall, I’m incredibly happy with this kit. If you’re looking for a unique-looking Gundam model, the RG Wing Gundam EW is worth checking out.
The design was very deliberate and exceptionally clean. There are almost no nubs visible, and most nubs were in places that you will not even notice them. The separation of colors is particularly good too, this one model kit can be displayed immediately after building it.
It stands out from the other kits in terms of design, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on your preferences. Assembly is straightforward. Overall, it’s a fun kit to put together and looks great when finished. If you’re looking for something different in your Gundam collection, the RG Wing Gundam EW is worth considering.
Articulation
The wings and legs can be moved around in all sorts of different ways. You can even pose it standing up on one foot! The articulation is so good that you could recreate almost any scene from the anime and look awesome while doing it
The inner frame is amazing. The arms and legs have realistic articulation. The shoulder can swivel, the limbs can bend and can twist. The hand, shoulders, feet, hips, and head are attached with a ball joint. One issue of the design is that both shoulder armor is not securely attached to the inner frame, they can be easily removed by accident.
Another nitpick is that the wings of the Wing Gundam somewhat limit its ability to pose and freedom of movement due to how bulky and heavy the wing is (ironic for a Gundam named Wing). But its wings are also articulated and can wing on a hinge connected to the backpack. There are also small panels in the middle of the wing that are also on a hinge but have little articulation. The top of the wing can also open and reveal an opening for added detail.
This Gundam can “transform” by moving and locking the legs forward and moving the arms in front of the Wing’s chest while also attaching the 2 buster power packs on both arms. The Shield and Buster rifle connect with each other and then connect to the back of the Gundam and simultaneously cover the Gundam head. The wings and backpack can detach to the back and swing downwards using a hinge hidden in the backpack that connects to the back of the Gundam.
Wing Gundam’s transformation is not really that impressive. He just looks like a Gundam on his belly with a shield on top of his head. You may prefer to display him while on his Gundam form.
Overall, articulation is great. All the joints are tight and move smoothly, allowing for a lot of posing possibilities. It has lots of neat details and a great overall look. If you’re a fan of the Wing Gundam or just want an amazing RG, then I highly recommend picking up the RG Wing Gundam EW.
Accessories
The model comes with:
- A beam saber, Shield, 2 Power packs that attach to the arm, and a Buster rifle
- Stickers that go on the wings and feet to give them a gradient effect
- Foil stickers that can be applied to certain areas for increased detail or metallic shine. This is only recommended for experienced modelers, as it can be difficult to apply these stickers without causing any air bubbles or wrinkles.

All these accessories and details make for a very impressive-looking Gunpla model. The Wing Gundam is already a very sleek and well-designed mobile suit, and the Real Grade kit takes that design to another level. The added stickers and foil stickers add an extra level of detail and give the Wing Gundam a more polished look. Painting can also be added to make the Gundam even more realistic, but these accessories will supplement most paint jobs nicely without any noticeable difference between painted and unpainted areas.
Overall Look
The RG Wing Gundam EW is an amazing-looking kit! It has a great overall look, with some awesome details. The wings are well designed and add a lot of cool visual interest to the kit.
One thing I really like is that they include foil stickers for the eyes, giving it a glossy look. The kit also comes with a beam saber, shield, and buster rifle. Assembly is easy. As with all the kits in this series, it comes with a stand and beam rifle.
The stand is necessary for flying poses. The overall look of the RG Wing Gundam EW is very impressive, and it’s a lot of fun to build. It goes together very easily and there are no problems with the fit or anything like that. They’ve got a stable build and overall look great as well! Overall, these are nice kits, and I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants to branch out from HG kits
