Redragon M711 Cobra FPS Review

Redragon M711 Cobra FPS is a budget wired gaming mouse with an ergonomic right-handed design. The body shape is similar to that of Razer’s DeathAdder. It is also a large and weighty mouse, so it might be uncomfortable for small hands to use. It also has RGB.

There is another mouse that is called Redragon M711 Cobra, don’t be confused, we are reviewing the FPS version that has a better mouse sensor.

Design of the Redragon M711 Cobra FPS

The shell has a matte finish to improve the user’s grip. The sides of the mouse also have grooves on them for improved grip. Between the top shell and the bottom part of the mouse run through RGB light zones that are customizable using Redragon’s software. The logo also has RGB.

When it comes to shape, the M711 FPS has a right-handed design that is comfortable for all grip types. Unfortunately for smaller hands, the Cobra is a fairly large mouse so a claw grip might be uncomfortable for them. The dimensions of the mouse are 5 x 2.6 x 1.6 in. (LxHxW).

It is also a heavy mouse weighing almost 100 grams(without the wire). Mouse feet are your typical PTFE feet which are decent.

Buttons and Scroll Wheel

The buttons are nice. This is the first time I encountered a budget mouse having optical switches. The primary buttons use the LK optical switches but the side buttons use mechanical switches. The top of the mouse has three more buttons for DPI control and RGB control.

The scroll wheel is just a standard scroll wheel, it is quiet and has a defined feel to it when scrolling.

Almost all buttons are customizable via software except for the mode switch at the bottom of the mouse.

Connectivity

It only has one way to connect to devices and that is through a wired connection. The cable wire is somewhat stiff.

Sensor

The Cobra FPS uses a Pixart 3360 sensor which can have up to 24,000 DPI. Unfortunately, the max 24000 DPI might be interpolated which can cause some perfomance issue and jittering. Some report that lowering your polling rate to 500Hz makes the mouse perform smoother and better than 1000Hz.

Speaking of polling rate, out of the box the polling rate is set to 1000Hz and can be reduced using the Redragon software. There are also 5 DPI settings available 1000, 2000, 4000, 8000, 12000.

Final Thoughts

This is a good budget gaming mouse from Redragon. It has a comfortable mouse shape and good optical mouse switches for a low budget. Before buying this mouse you must consider that this is a large and heavy mouse, consider your hand size and use case before picking this mouse up. Also, redragon has a very confusing naming scheme you might the other M711 Cobra that only has 10000 DPI.
