Moving Out Review

Moving out is a game from the Overcooked games publisher team 17. It is another chaotic 2-4 player couch co-op game that will bring so much fun and arguments with your friends and family. This one of the most enjoyable games I played with my family, it is also one of the stressfully hilarious games out there.

Publisher: Team 17
Developer: SMG Studios, Devm Games

Watch the room be filled with banter and arguments due to furniture being broken and time limits not being met. The physics-based gameplay really adds a layer of difficulty that can make some of the stages frustrating to finish. It’s funny that a slap button is in the game, you slap obstacles away from you and you can even grief your teammates by slapping them.

The game starts in a calm fashion, like in the overcooked games, but when you are getting into the groove and rhythm of the stage the game adds new mechanics that would throw a wrench on whatever game plan you have developed. It can move platforms, conveyor belts and even verticality.

Each map also has time challenges that are categorized as gold, silver, and bronze. The time challenges can add to the chaos of the game and even introduce a dash of competitiveness into the game. Getting the gold tier medal for a map requires a very efficient strategy and teamwork to achieve.

Like overcooked this game is more focused on couch co-op and some versions of the game especially the console versions don’t offer online co-op play. The Steam version is an exception as the platform has a feature “Remote Play” that helps local network co-op connect to other players, your friends don’t need to own the game you just need to launch Moving out and invite them.

I highly recommend that you check this game out, especially if you’re a fan of the overcooked series. Both games have quite similar concepts but the physics-based gameplay spices things up. If you want a fun game with your partner or just for a family night, you should consider this game.
