How to Disable Help from an Ally in Dota 2?
Dota 2 has many skills that will interact with both enemies and allies. Sometimes you want help from an ally when put in a sticky situation, like Pudge hooking you out of a Chronosphere. A teammate saving you from certain doom? A dream comes true! But alas this quite helpful mechanic is sometimes used by toxic players to grief you and your teammates.
How do you use “Disable help from allies”?
- Open the Scoreboard by clicking on its icon on the upper left corner of the screen or pushing the hotkey for it.
- Go to the bottom right side of the scoreboard and click the fourth icon from the left named “Show Shared Units Control Options”
- A panel will open with three columns of buttons labeled “Unit”, “Hero” and “Help”.
- Click the highlighted buttons to disable help from the ally
Do note that some abilities can still target you as making you not targetable by an ability would make some abilities overpowered, such as Pudge’s Meat Hook and Tiny’s Toss.
Abilities with healing components or any dispelling ability can still be used on you even if you disabled the help options.
List of abilities that can be disabled by the “Disable help from an ally” option
- Force Staff/Hurricane Pike
- Bane’s Nightmare
- Earth Spirit’s Boulder Smash
- IO’s Relocate
- Keeper of the Light’s Recall
- Kunkka’s X Marks The Spot
- Oracle’s Purifying Flames
- Outworld Destroyer’s Astral Imprisonment
- Shadow Demon’s Disruption
- Snapfire’s Gobble Up (Aghanim Scepter upgrade)
- Snapfire’s Firesnap Cookie
- Tusk’s Snowball
- Winter Wyvern’s Cold Embrace
What do the other options in “Show Shared Units Control Options” do?
The “Hero” option will give your allies control over your hero. It is better to leave it disabled unless you really trust your teammates.
The “Unit” option gives your teammates control over your summoned units or any neutral creeps you dominated using an item or skill. This is better to be left disabled
